A believable render starts long before the first pixel. We block out the scene in grey, get the camera and lighting right, and only then reach for materials. This order keeps the story front and center instead of chasing shiny surfaces too early.
Lighting first, materials later
Most of the realism people notice comes from light, not from texture resolution. A single soft key, a subtle bounce, and a controlled reflection will carry a shot further than any 8K map. We lock lighting, then layer materials to taste.
By the time we hit final frames, the look is already approved from the grey pass — so rendering becomes a formality rather than a gamble.
